Odds and Ends 1997-2002 |
 June 2002: Here I am with Dale Hawkins, legendary rocker of "Suzie Q" fame, at the Sticky Fingerz Rock & Roll Chicken Shack in Little Rock, Arkansas! We're going to back Dale up at the huge Green Bay festival in July 2002!  June 2002: We just finished a recording session for the next album, and here I am with the greatest rock & roll drummer of all time, Mr. Earl Palmer! We brought Earl in and he did an incredible job. Earl was the drummer on all the Little Richard records, Fats Domino, Lloyd Price, Larry Williams, he even played on Richie Valens "La Bamba" and with people like Eddie Cochran, Speedy West, the Beach Boys, Willie Nelson, Dick Dale, and countless others. He's played on more than a thousand hit records....and now ours!!!!  December 4, 2002: Flyer for Deke's show at Speedy's Wig City at the Elbo Room in San Francisco  March 2002: Here I am with the legendary Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith in Charlotte, North Carolina. Probably the most influential electric guitar player in the pre-rock and roll days and nobody even knows he's still alive!!! It was great to meet him!  2001: At Mojo's in Columbia, Missouri   2001: I thought I'd finally show to the world my ability to play the bass with my feet. Due to public health concerns -- and the smell -- this part of the act was discontinued! Note Texas drummer supreme Lisa Pankratz's incredulous look. Corey Kaiser also looks on.
