Japan
Winter 2001

This is what a typical Japanese audience is like: crowded, sweaty, and CRAZY! These people love to ROCK!

These are our friends Jackie Enocky & Tomoko -- 2/3 of Jackie & the Cedrics. They were great!

Here is a picture of us with "Petty Booka" who are a pair of cute gals who sing country/bluegrass with a great acoustic band behind them. This is the Ecco-Fonics posing with the gals and their band members. They were such friendly and nice people!!

This was our "host band" the Hot Shots. Singer Chie is the one who booked our tour over there and we used the Hot Shots back line on all the gigs. They are the nicest people in the world and we couldn't have done it without them!

This is Ron and Enocky on the set of the Japanese television show that we appeared on. Talk about a crazy experience!! It was like being in the middle of a pinball game. Japanese television standards are enough to make a regular person have an epileptic fit -- flashing lights, multiple dizzy camera angles -- these people like it crazy!!!

Here we are teaching the toothy "hillbilly face" to our Japanese friends!!! Believe it or not they know what hillbillies are and thought the face was hilarious. What have we started??? Oh lord, forgive us.

When we did our television show appearance I snuck into the studio next to ours where they were finishing up one of the crazy Japanese game shows. I couldn't help jumping onto the set for a snapshot. I was then ushered out of the studio by angry Japanese television employees!!

Deke at Buddokhan! We had to see where the infamous Cheap Trick Live at Buddokhan album was recorded.

Talk about corporate takeovers... McDonalds has completely invaded Japan. How scary is that? They do make some concessions to Asian tastes, though -- check out the teriyaki double EGG burger on the poster in the window!!
